Malaria Facts

Malaria has the highest burden of disease in Nigeria – with an estimated 300,000 children dying of malaria each year. It accounts for over 25% of infant mortality (children under aged one), 30% of childhood mortality (children under five), and 11% of maternal mortality. At least 50% of the population has at least one episode of malaria annually, while children aged less than 5 years have 2 to 4 attacks annually (NDHS 2008).

Summary

Young children and pregnant women are more prone to malaria because for the children they are too young to have developed partial immunity to the illness and for pregnant women changes in her hormone levels and immune system can make them prone to malaria. And this is one of the reasons for us To help create awareness against malaria across Nigeria and African as a whole.

A good way to reduce malaria is to distribute or provide free mosquito nets. However, it's critical that you teach children how to use and care for their mosquito nets as well as how to re-treat them in a way that is both safe and appropriate.

Because they may contaminate local rivers by washing treated nets there or endanger their livestock and agricultural crops by discharging pesticide mix water on their farmlands, many of them could bring harm to themselves and their communities if they lacked this expertise.

This is why it's crucial for RMF to provide a detailed explanation of how to properly re-treat mosquito nets and other necessary preventive measures.

Happiness is knowing that lives are being Impacted through your acts. Mosquito nets were distributed to residents of Shishipe 1 Mpape Abuja by Rockians Medical Foundation and RMF partners, along with a live demonstration of how to properly use and maintain the nets. Words alone cannot properly explain the happiness we saw on their faces. We hope to return back to reach more people. We are incredibly encouraged and happy to be a part of the global effort to lower the morbidity and mortality rates in Africa.
